Adrienne Aldous Skiing at Solitude Ski Resort

This is a picture of my first day of skate skiing this season.

The Solitude Nordic Track was empty but for me and the big blue sky. Just Little Redman and Big Redman loops were open and it is a good thing because they kicked my heini. Next time will be easier. Need more snow and conditions.

Monday, December 14th, 2009

Weather at Solitude Ski Resort:
Snow in the forecast – get your boards waxed!
Misc & Events: We open for winter Nov 13 – conditions permitting.

Are you aware of avalanches?
It’s dumping the “Greatest Snow on Earth” at Solitude!

With the snow piling up and backcountry season in full swing, there’s never been a better time to join Solitude’s Professional Ski Patrol and Snow Safety team for their Avalance Awareness Clinic, December 19-20.

Focusing on how to travel safely and responsibly outside resort boundaries, this two day course is a great introduction to the identification of avalanche hazards and the skills needed to safely travel in the backcountry.

Learn how to identify avalanche terrain, analyze snow and weather factors and manage group dynamics. Plus, gain valuable knowledge concerning avalanche rescue skills. After an avalanche presentation on the morning of day one, the rest of day one and two will be spent in the backcountry putting these concepts into action.

Don’t miss this great opportunity! Spots are limited so sign up quick!

Thanksgiving at Brighton Ski Resort

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

We had Mark Forgson and his son staying in Alpine Creek #1 for the Thanksgiving holiday and they left this cute snowman. Their quote of the week was “this was the most memorable Thanksgiving we’ve ever had”. They enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner at Creekside Restaurant, nonstop skiing and playing in the pool and hottub, and cartoons by the fireplace. Couldn’t be better. Mark even treated himself to a massage at the Solitude Spa.

New October Snow on Brighton Ski Resort – Thanksgiving Ski Home Rentals Still Available

Sunday, November 1st, 2009

Jay and I hiked up to the top of Majestic lift yesterday and did a little skiing. What a way to embrace winter. For October 31st, the snow was quite good and abundant. Thinking we were doing something unique and on the edge, we soon realized it was NOT. There were many people already there in T-shirts and shorts (quite a bit younger I might add) doing the same. If this is any indication, we are going to have a terrific ski season at Brighton and Solitude Ski Resorts.

Utah Summer Skiing?

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

Enough already.  Brighton Ski Resort closed last week and we got another 10 inches of snow.  Can someone tell whomever is in charge to knock it off?

Utah Ski Season Comes to a Close

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

Last day of skiing today and what a way to end the Utah ski season.  The Brighton Beach Bikini Bash was a hit yesterday with skiers getting more than a goggle tan line if you know what I mean.  We are finally getting those great spring skiing conditions.  It seems only right to be skiing in shorts the last day of the season rather than skiing knee deep in fluffy powder like we did last week.  This season, Brighton Ski Resort had a total of 581 inches of snowfall beating last years’ total.  This translates to full reservoirs this summer.
