Fundraiser for Fishermen Affected by the Gulf Coast Oil Spill

Great day to be in Big Cottonwood Canyon at Brighton Ski Resort. The was a party with live music and great weather and people .  The five bands that played included StoneFed, Blotto, Scenic Byway, Drunken Masters, and Kristin Diable from Louisiana.  The other four groups are from Utah, Stonefed from Moab, Blotto and Scenic Byway from SLC and Drunken Masters from Clearfield.

The charity that served as our primary benefactor was Gulf Relief Foundation, founded by New Orleanian David Freedman, the general manager of WWOZ radio station in New Orleans.

We were pleased and thankful to have sponsorships from Brighton Resort, Budweiser, AlphaGraphics, Danksquad, KRCL, and the Canyon Inn.

The money raised ($1,000) will all be donated.  I think that the amount of people in attendance throughout the day totaled closed to 200.  Brighton employees as well as others in the local community contributed hours of the time as well as ideas.  Todd Nierny and Beverley Stachowiak did an awesome job coordinating ideas and contributing their free time.

The Gulf relief foundation was formed to help local fisherman in the Gulf Coast region who are being overlooked and under-compensated from the effects of the oil spill.
